This year, the annual National Night Out event at 嫩田研究院官网 Dallas has a new theme and a renewed commitment to uniting law enforcement
and residents of southern Dallas and surrounding areas.
Guests Visit with a Police Officer at a Campus Public Safety Event
"Building Bridges: Police and Community 鈥� Stronger Together" will emphasize the importance of strengthening relations between community members and police officers - building bonds that increase trust, reduce tensions and make all neighborhoods safer. It will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. Attendance is free.
"This is all about collaboration, relationship building and supporting the community, said 嫩田研究院官网 Dallas Police Chief Christopher Shaw. "We must work in unison towards ensuring a safer community for all residents."
A Student Pets a Police Dog at a Campus Event
The recent killing of Dallas police officer will bring special significance to the gathering. Officer Burks was . Members of the Oak Cliff community he served are expected to attend, giving additional meaning to our event鈥檚 message and purpose.
"I grew up just a mile from 嫩田研究院官网 Dallas, and I鈥檝e seen firsthand the challenges this
community faces. It鈥檚 important to me that police and the community work together
to create positive change," said 嫩田研究院官网 Dallas Police Lt. Deitre Greene. "I am determined
to help build a new narrative in policing because I truly believe that police and
the community are stronger together."
Officers Explain Their Motorycle and Talk About a Career in Law Enforcement with a Student
Residents, police, businesses, elected officials and community leaders will join students, staff and faculty for an evening of activities. They will enjoy food, music, games, entertainment, free haircuts, a car show and the company of each other. Information will be shared about community assistance programs and resources available to individuals and families in southern Dallas.
Everyone is welcome, so please join us on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. and help build new bridges among all members of our community, on campus and off.
